
PUBLIC POLICY STUDENT RESEARCHERS (on-going)
The Prison Law Office hires public policy graduate student and recent graduates from public policy graduate programs for summer or semester-long internships focused on juvenile justice issues. Policy researchers will be supervised by a staff attorney/policy advocate. Work includes policy research and analysis in cutting edge juvenile justice areas including, but not limited to: gender-responsive programming, education, and the use of isolation in juvenile detention facilities. Research may result in legislative action, including writing bills. Volunteer, work study, clinical credits, and grant funding are all possible options. Our office is located in Berkeley.

LAW STUDENT INTERNS (on-going)
The Prison Law Office regularly hires law students for summer or semester-long internships. Under the supervision of staff attorneys, law student interns work on individual and class action cases. Work includes researching legal issues, drafting advice and advocacy letters, corresponding with prisoners, interviewing prisoners and reviewing prison files, and assisting in the preparation of monitoring reports and legal briefs. Volunteer, work study, clinical credits, and grant funding are all possible options.
