Prison Law Office develops and publishes the California Prison and Parole Handbook — a comprehensive overview of laws and policies that affect people in state prisons and on parole in California. The Handbook chapters are free of charge and can be accessed in PDF form here.
PLO also has an expansive program to create and distribute self-help information to people in prisons and jails throughout California and in Arizona. These materials cover a wide range of topics relevant to people inside and advocates, including about conditions of confinement, administrative processes, and individual rights. The materials also address significant updates about laws relating to post-conviction processes, parole, and early release California. PLO's informational materials are available here.
PLO serves as a resource to public defenders, criminal defense attorneys, and other advocates on matters relating to sentencing, enhancements, credits, and prison classification. In addition to providing informational materials, PLO makes CLE presentations and presents to criminal defense organizations and groups across the state. To inquire further, please contact us.
