Hall v. County of Fresno
Case Summary
In December 2011, the Prison Law Office and Disability Rights California filed a federal class action on behalf of people incarcerated in the Fresno County Jail to address dangerous and unconstitutional conditions that violated the U.S. Constitution and federal disability law. In November 2015, the Court approved a Remedial Plan that requires improvements to mental health and medical care, increased accessibility for people with disabilities and measures to reduce violence in Fresno County Jail. It also approved a Consent Decree that includes the appointment of Court Experts to monitor implementation of the certain portions of the Remedial Plan. The Prison Law Office also continues to monitor compliance with the full Plan.
