Dewi Zarni
Litigation Assistant

Dewi joined the Prison Law Office in 2022 and was promoted to Supervising Litigation Assistant in 2024. In her time at the Prison Law Office, she has monitored conditions of confinement and advocated for the rights of incarcerated people in prisons and jails across the state of California. Dewi is also the Lead Litigation Assistant for the Plata v. Newsom case, a class action lawsuit concerning the provision of medical care in California prisons. Prior to joining PLO, Dewi worked as a research fellow for the Berkeley Interdisciplinary Migration Initiative and volunteered with the East Bay Sanctuary Covenant's Refugee Rights program. She attended the University of California, Berkeley, where she majored in American Studies with a concentration in the Criminalization of Race and Migration.
