Nick Sheehan
Senior Staff Attorney

Nick joined the Prison Law Office as a Senior Staff Attorney in October 2025. He works on Armstrong v. Newsom and Chavez v. Santa Clara County. Prior to joining the PLO, Nick was a Trial Attorney in the Special Litigation Section of the Civil Rights Division at the United States Department of Justice. Nick also worked as a Senior Habeas Corpus Counsel at the Habeas Corpus Resource Center where he represented death-sentenced individuals in their state post-conviction proceedings. Before that, he was a Skadden Fellow at Advocates for Children of New York, where he worked on school discipline and policing issues, and represented students in school disciplinary hearings and the parents of students with disabilities in administrative proceedings under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Nick received his J.D. from Georgetown Law and his B.A. from Trinity College in Hartford, CT. He is admitted to the bars of New York and California.
